Lymphatic drainage/ detox massage is on demand

Updated: May 1, 2023

Lymphatic drainage was a part of the diploma remedial massage study yet, very few massage therapists decide to perform it. As I was suffering from excessive swelling and puffiness in my face chronically, I decided to study further lymphatic massage after the diploma remedial which was oncology lymphatic massage for cancer people. MLD (manual lymphatic drainage) is a way of reducing swelling caused by fluid buildup after cancer treatment.

Back of time 10 years ago when I was studying, the lymphatic system was still a very mysterious system of the body. That time we studied only the surface of the lymphatic system and the treatment was VERY VERY gentle.

I usually explain to my clients that the human body is like your own house. To build a livable house, we have to consider many things such as sunlight, plumbing, drainage, durability, materials, and so on. In terms of the body, it is necessary to build and function these many roles in a balanced manner to remain healthy.

First, let me briefly explain the function of the lymphatic system.

The function of the Lymphatic System

The lymphatic system is part of the immune system. There are 3 main functions.

  1. Protect: From bacteria and infections with filters.

  1. Drain: lymphatic vessels, tissues, organs, and glands work together to drain a watery fluid (lymph) from throughout the body.

  1. Maintain the Water level on the body.
